Current News

We have had some pretty unique and, to some, funny post the last few events and maybe everyone has enjoyed them.  This month I would like to turn to a different page and do something a little different.  Everyone is talking about the Economy and how things have effected love ones lives.  Basically, everyone out there knows someone who has been effected by the latest Economic down turn.  I would like to put a little different twist to that.  Yes, we all have seen gas prices above $4, we have seen our retirement crumble, we have heard and felt the impact of companies---major companies close.  But to me, if you look at it from a "world" or "economic" view then yes, business is tough and things are the lowest they have been in years.

In saying all of that to say this.......what if this is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ crying out to us?  I mean, I just wander, for so many years now we (as a nation/world) have put our focus on our Selves (personal rewards) and how fast we can acquire possessions (Success), grow within our jobs, basically, what can I do next that would benefit ME!.........  The Bible tells us different.  As men, we are required (it is not optional) to Fellowship with others, focus on Eternal Rewards, focus on Others....not me.  God loves us for who we are....not what we do.  God loves us to be dependant upon Him.  He likes us to cry out when times are tough.  At any point in our lives that we feel that we are where we think God wants us to be, then really, we are no closer to Him than when we started.

There is always someone to be there for, someone to love, someone to help, someone to provide for.  We should always be working to please Him.  So, again I ask....how do we know God is not crying out to us so that we can depend on Him.  Yes, He blesses us every day, but He still is proud when we "lean" on Him.  I want to leave each of us with this thought that I heard the other day....."A real man GIVES....A boy TAKES! (Lewis)...  I am willing to challenge myself and hope that you would join me.....let's make it a personal effort to give something to someone by our next tournament.  If there is no money or possessions that you are willing to let go, then, give the gift of Jesus Christ.  Everyday can be Christmas for someone.  You may be on your way to Heaven, but that person that you interact with everyday may not know what it takes to join you.  Let's focus on being Fishers of Men.

Thank ya'll for letting me have that moment.

Lake Eufaula.....home of the Witch's Ditch, Duck Blind, Chattahoochee River, Train Trusses', Hog Creek, Gator Hole, and lots of BASS and very seasonal patterns.  Right now, some believe we are in the last half of the Shad spawn; some believe it to be over.  Others feel the best fishing is on the ledges and deep brush piles; while some believe the best fishing is in less that 5 feet of water -- all day long.  Most believe in a "Top Water" bite; the rest feel it doesn't exist and hasn't existed in a while.  All of this is true for someone.  As this is being read, someone is leaning back on a 7ft MH action rod with a Texas rigged soft plastic and reeling in a 3lber.  While that fish is being netted, the guy down the river aways is dragging a Carolina Rig down a river ledge and has just felt that infamous "Tap, Bump, Tug".  As he tightens his line and swings in the opposite direction, allowing that 4lber to flop, splash, and thrash the top of the water as that 25 to 30 yard cast is being winded in.

There is one thing for certain, you can be assured that the fish are biting and someone is catchin'em.  That has been the story all year.  Several tournaments this year have been record setting events.  This one for Dixie Bassmasters has been no exception.  Our top 5 could have easily been in any order.  Some were plagued with a dead fish penalty, and others just needed that one more bite.  Just over a pound would separate our top 4.  Need less to say, it was tight.  Even the "Lunker" rights had to be decided by a tie breaker.  How many times can you say that you have seen a tie for "Big Fish"?  Not many........

While the water temps approached 82 degrees on the surface, storms rolled through in the afternoon, and a very crowded lake; that didn't stop our anglers from catchin' some fish.

The 1st place finisher is.......Rodney Conine.  Rodney has won 2 of the last 3 three tournaments.  It is very fortunate to be in the likes of the other men in our club, but beating them at fishing is a great feeling to.  Conine has been able to do that.  Who knows what the future is bringing, one thing is for certain....fishing is like baseball player on a 10 game hitting streak.  The momentum one carries after a victory is un-measurable.  Guys, we had better tighten up.  Conine won with a 5 fish limit that weighted 12.93 lbs.  Way to go!!!!

Working out the 2nd place spot this month is Shane Douglas.  Shane also managed to catch a limit of 5 fish.  The timing of the events this year has not been too good for Shane, but the events that he has been able to fish....he has definitely showed up for.  Shane's 5 fish weighted 11.82 lbs.  Shane it is a pleasure and Good Luck in the next events.

In 3rd, Paul "Capt. Paul" Anthony.  Capt. Paul has definitely had his ups and downs this year.  While winning 2 events already and this 3rd place finish; this has put him right in the race for AOY.  Paul also caught a limit that weighted 11.46 lbs.  Paul we enjoy your company and are glad you are apart of the team.  Keep trucking in the next events.  Who knows what will happen.
